A daily summary typically includes total sales, number of orders, average ticket, popular items, <a href="https://plumpos.com/glossary/discount.html">discounts</a>, refunds, labor costs, and payment types.</p><p>Every morning in restaurants all across the US involves a review of yesterday's sales numbers. These numbers will be reviewed by managers to analyze how well the restaurant did compared to expectations. If there's a trend they can use today and for the rest of the week, or if there was something out of the ordinary going on, like an unexplained drop in sales, unusually high voids, or unexpected labor costs.</p><p>Most POS and restaurant management systems automatically create these snapshots for you and deliver them to you via email, dashboards, or mobile applications so that the owner or operator knows what is happening when they aren't on the premises.</p><p>It could mean that performance information or operational problems are overlooked, which could require action. Delays could make a rapid response to a problem impossible.</p><p>Common metrics included in a snapshot are <a href="https://plumpos.com/glossary/gross-sales.html">gross sales</a>, <a href="https://plumpos.com/glossary/net-sales.html">net sales</a>, cash vs. card payments, <a href="https://plumpos.com/glossary/guest-count.html">guest count</a>, refunds, <a href="https://plumpos.com/glossary/comps.html">comps</a>, and hourly sales trends.</p>
