t_text:
XML Integration means using the XML language to link up restaurant systems to allow for automatic data transfer.

This lets various systems, like POS systems, inventory systems, online ordering systems, and accounting systems, communicate with each other in a standardized way.

Restaurants implement many different systems, and they all have varying functions to perform. The purpose of XML Integration is to allow the systems to pass data between them. Remove the need for manual data entry. For instance, in the scenario of placing an online order, the information about the order could be passed to the POS system and then on to the kitchen system via XML integration.

It also makes processes more accurate, faster, and eliminates redundancy. Data will only need to be entered into one or a series of systems, as there is now an automatic update across all connected systems. XML Integration is often utilized within the U.S. For restaurant usage with 3rd party delivery apps, vendor systems, accounting, and enterprise reporting tools.

If integration is not handled correctly, restaurants have issues with misplaced orders, incorrect inventories, incorrect reporting, or systems taking too long to update. Typical data shared with XML includes menu items, pricing, transaction details, customer information, and inventory. The typical enterprise restaurant system has extensive XML due to its use for data sharing.
