There are a few standard issues that can occur with this:</p><ul><li><strong>Wrong amount billed -</strong> The final transaction does not include the final tip.</li><li><strong>Manual mistakes -</strong> Servers will input incorrect tip amounts on paper receipts.</li><li><strong>Contention -</strong> Customers may question unexpected charges if tips are entered incorrectly.</li><li><strong>Delayed reporting -</strong> Sales and tip amounts are not finalized until they are adjusted.</li></ul><p>To avoid this problem, adjusting tips helps restaurants update the final transaction.</p><p>Servers enter the tip amount from the signed check receipt into the POS. The POS updates the charge amount before the batch. Reporting shows accurate sales and tips.</p><p><strong>For Example:</strong> Customer pay the $50 bill by card, but writes $10 on the <a href="https://plumpos.com/marketplace/tip-pooling-software/">tip receipt</a>. Using tip adjustment, the managers can change the total to $60 before processing the final payment.</p><p>Tip adjustment closes the loop between payment authorization and finalized charges. This helps in keeping restaurants efficient, accurate, and maintaining good customer relations.</p>
