Here's how it usually works- A customer buys a gift card for a specific amount. The restaurant activates the gift card using the <a href="https://plumpos.com/">POS system</a>. The recipient gets the gift card. The card is redeemed during a later transaction. The amount of the purchase is removed from the value of the gift card. The balance, if there is any left, may be used for a future visit until it runs out. Many restaurants allow customers to check their gift card balance online or in-store.</p>
