Most restaurants complete a batch settlement at the close of their business day, after all of the card transactions are finished.

The POS device makes one transaction for bank transfer of all card payments. It batches numerous transactions.
Batch settlement is normally used for-

Credit card

Debit card

Contactless cards

Mobile wallets

Online orders

How does batch settlement work in a restaurant?

The POS system will temporarily hold all of your approved credit transactions. Closing the batch will group all of your transactions into one payment request at the end of your shift or business day.
Generally, the procedure will look like this-

Customers use a card or digital form for payment at the time of service.

The POS system authorizes each payment and records transaction information.

Transaction information is saved as an open batch through business hours.

At the time of closing, the restaurant runs a batch settlement process.

The POS system transmits all the saved transaction information to the payment processor.

The payment processor sends information to the bank and card network for the transaction of funds.

Restaurant gets settled fund into bank account, normally within 1 to 3 business days.
